Applications available for skilled-trades training
By Daily News staff
Applications are being accepted for a new state grant program bringing free skilled-trades training and job-placement support to Carteret County.
The program is being coordinated by Carteret Community College.
The $115,000 N.C. Department of Commerce grant is for the North Carolina Back-to-Work initiative.
The community college will offer free training in the following skilled trade areas: heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); and welding and masonry. Participants also will sharpen their job search, resume writing and interview skills.
Eligible applicants include unemployed or underemployed residents of North Carolina, U.S. military veterans and members of the N.C. National Guard.
Classes will begin in late January.
